Exploring Tennessee

My Good Friend Jack

One of the iconic tours to take when you are visiting Tennessee is at the Jack Daniels Distillery. The Distillery is located in Lynchburg, TN which is about an hour and half outside of Nashville.

I have been on this tour many times as it is something most of my friends would like to do when they visit. For $30 you can tour the grounds and sample 5 of their iconic whiskeys. I think because of Covid and the tour not being what it used to be we also got a free whiskey glass with the Jack Daniels logo on it.   I think the tour is rich with information. Like, each label is placed on a bottle by an individual and not a machine.  To me that is crazy considering how many bottles of whiskey is produced each year.  I also learned that a mass amount of taxes are taken by the state and federal government.  Workers also receive a free bottle of Whiskey the first Friday of every month!

I  will say that since Covid has hit the tour leaves a lot to be desired. I am not sure if it is because I have done the original tour so many times but I am not sure I got my money’s worth. I would not take friends up there for the tour they are now doing.  I get that the tour is modified but I would wait until we are past this pandemic to go.  You can also buy a photo from the tour.  I passed on this one, wasn’t my favorite photo of myself.

Don’t forget to explore the town of Lynchburg.  The town is right next to the distillery over the bridge. Here is where you can find some souvenirs and grab a bite to eat. Stepping over is like going back in time to the original Main Street.  There is not much to this little town.  There are two restaurants and the rest are souvenir shops.
