A Busy Day At Hollywood Studios
Hollywood studios is another full day park. When you first walk into the park you get the old time feeling of Hollywood. You also have the Toy Story section and of course the Star War sections to explore.
There are a lot of rides to experience when you are in Hollywood studios. Below are my top three.
- Tower of Terror: One thing that Disney is really good with is how well each ride is themed. Tower of Terror is set in the 1930’s in what is known as the twilight zone. Who doesn’t like the thrill of dropping several stories. This ride also gives you a great photo to review after.
- Rock N’ Roller Coaster: Who doesn’t love going 0 to 57mph in 2.8 seconds while listening to Aerosmith. I loved zooming around this ride and going upside down. Be ready for the photo, this is one of my favorites.
- Rise of the Resistance: You don’t have to be a heavy Star Wars fan to enjoy this ride. The queue alone is worth the wait. The cast members stay in character the whole time. The ride is so worth it and nothing else is like it is at the park. This is one of the top rides at Disney World. This ride has a long wait so I suggest getting Disney Genie and purchasing this ride at 7am if you are staying on property.
Next up are the food options that I have tried at Hollywood Studios
- 50’s Primetime Diner: This has all your classic dinner options, pot roast, fried chicken and meatloaf to name a few. The waitstaff stay in character from telling you to keep your elbows off the table, to telling you to eat your veggie. This is my top restaurant here as far as food goes. You will need to get a reservation for this place as it fills up fast. The drawback we had is the wait time we had to wait for our reservation. They did comp us with a free pass to the ride for our wait.
- Sci Fi Drive In: The Sci Fi Dinner has one of the coolest set ups in Hollywood Studios. You get to eat in a car which makes it seem like you are in an actual drive in watching a sci fi film. Atmosphere is 10/10. The food on the other hand is a different story. When we ate there we had some issues with the food (skunked beer and extremely dry turkey sammie). I would almost rate the food 6/10.
- Mama Melrose: When I booked this one I wasn’t truly excited about it. I am not a huge Italian fan. It turned out better than expected. It was a very comfortable, well themed restaurant. Everyone enjoyed the meals we got and I would give it an 8/10.
We also paid extra to build droids and Lightsaber. Nothing like adults bringing out their inner kids. You will need a reservation in advance to do these and they are not cheap. The day we went people were being told that they had no open availability till the following week. So grab your reservation, you are in for a treat
Savi’s Workshop
This is worth every penny. This is a one of a kind experience where you can make your own customized lightsaber. Under the guidance of a jedi you will construct your lightsaber. You get to design the handle and pick which color kyber crystal you use. This is a very interactive experience and you are guided all the way through. I did not build one but each builder is allowed one guest. The light saber was about $220. The light saber is glass but they give you a very nice carrying case which is very protective. We brought the Lightsabers on Tower of Terror and they were all fine.
Droid Depot
Another fun thing we did was build a droid. It is not as interactive as the lightsaber build but it was definitely worth doing. You get to choose between two body shapes. Next, you will receive a basket showing which parts you will need to pick. The color scheme is completely up to you. The droid itself is $100, my brother and I both chose to pay extra to give our droid a personality. I purchased the sweet and happy personality. After assembled, which you do yourself, we headed to an outdoor area to play around with our new droid. Another cool feature of this droid is that it interacts throughout the star wars land!! I enjoyed this and had a lot of fun building.
There is so much to see and do in this park. This is definitely a full day park. I love the different lands and all the rides. I would again recommend the Disney Genie paid fast passes. It helped get through so much and the ability to ride every ride.
